ALS : Port Royal Harbor, South Carolina, to John Lorimer Worden, 1863 Jan 20.

The letter is a confidential order written by Rear Admiral Du Pont on his flagship, the WABASH, to Commander Worden of the Monitor MONTAUK odering Worden to attack Fort McAllister, Ga., and the Confederate privateer NASHVILLE waiting in the Great Ogeechee River for a chance to run the Federal blockade. The letter is accompanied by an engraving of Alonso Chappel's portrait of Rear Admiral Du Pont seated with a map.
